A decade keeping a clinical product modern
Shared decision-making for psychiatric care
The engagement
The product is a web application that supports shared decision-making in psychiatric care - clinics and clinicians use it with clients for medication tracking, wellness charting, shared-decision reports, and a multilingual video library. Our client built it, and we were able to help support the large codebase.
What we did
- Drove major Rails upgrades. Rails 4.0, the 5.x migration, 6.0, the 6.0.x point releases, and 6.1, on two different mission-critical applications.
- Troubleshooting Large codebases often accumulate complex bugs - but we were able to help track down even some obscure issues for the client.
- Automated Testing We were able to significantly increase the coverage of the automated testing suite and introduce E2E browser testing.
In their words
The firm’s technical lead during much of the engagement, Elliot Murphy, later wrote this public recommendation:
“David is an unstoppable force. He can navigate large unfamiliar codebases and untangle ways to maintain and modernize them in a way that I have rarely seen matched. Working with David on projects in the past gave me great peace of mind that he would find reasonable options for moving forward when faced with legacy systems that still ran critical parts of the business. Highly recommended!”
